Generally the visual system using the larger film twice or more than the usual sized film (35mm) is called the "Large Screen Movie." Also, the Large Screen Movie uses kinds of various films by the difference in the size of these films. Example:

- 70mm15P
- 70mm10P
- 70mm8P
- 35mm8P

The largest screen film is "IMAX." Its film size is 10 times larger than usual 35 mm films or 3 times larger than 70mm films; that is the largest film size in the history of the movie. A reason is very simple that quality of image could be better if a frame of a film is larger. The clearest and sharpest possible image can be created by combining peculiar projection technology to the film size.

Moreover, a screen in IMAX Theater is 10 times larger than the screen in usual movie theaters, and its height is as tall as an 8-storied building. Because high quality images spread to the limit of your view, you will not know where the end of a screen is. Everyone is wrapped in by the large images and can feel being inside of large screen.

フィルムは横送り Horizontal Sending for the large films.

The projector has adopted the peculiar system which sends a film horizontally for 70mm15P film. This system sends a film smoothly like a motion of a wave exactly horizontally, not like usual vertical sending. Each frame is fixed by the register strike pin during projection, and a film is exactly stuck by the rear lens with vacuum equipment. Consequently, the stability of a screen and the degree of image clearness have easily exceeded the usual level.
